Jim Beattie, MLIS, is one of two librarian liaisons to the Medical School, focusing his attention on supporting pre-clinical basic sciences and clinical clerkships in years 1-4.  He received his MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin.  Prior to working at the Health Sciences Libraries Jim held a faculty appointment, as an Educational Services Librarian, at NYU School of Medicine and more recently was a Senior Knowledge Consultant at Allina Hospitals & Clinics in the Twin Cities.  Jim is a  a 2007 Fellow of the the Frye Leadership Institute. He has a personal and professional interest in evidence-based practice, particularly helping practicing healthcare professionals, across the continuum, efficiently access the best available information in support of their clinical decision making. He has an enduring and evolving interest in teaching and facilitating small group learning both within the Medical School via Foundations of Critical Thinking casess and at the AHC Level via the 1Health Foundations of Interprofessional Communication & Collaboration course.
