Fund your research

The following is a list of awards, fellowships and scholarships available to fund research in the Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine.

Elmer L. Andersen Research Scholars Program

The Elmer L. Andersen Research Scholars Program supports scholarly research projects using materials from any unit within the Department of Archives and Special Collections, including the Wangensteen Historical Library.

Challacombe Research Travel Grant

The Challacombe Research Travel Grant supports the use of Wangensteen Historical Library of Biology and Medicine materials by visiting scholars and graduate students. It offers scholars at all stages of their careers the opportunity to conduct in-depth research that draws on the library’s holdings and staff expertise.

Preference is given to applicants whose research is closely based on materials in Wangensteen collections, especially when those materials are unique.

Eligibility

United States citizens and permanent residents with the legal right to work in the U.S. who are engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, academic, or independent research are invited to apply for these short-term awards.  Grants are not awarded to scholars who live within commuting distance of the library, and the award requires on-site use of the collections.

Applications for support for all types of research projects, academic, creative, and journalistic will be considered. We are also interested in proposals for research in the Wangensteen collections to support future exhibitions.

Interested applicants should discuss their subject expertise and strategies for identifying material in our collections.
