The Bio-Medical Library provides a wide range of resources and services in support of evidence-based practice, from instruction to consultations to systematic review support to tutorials. For more information on any of these resources, contact your subject librarian.

Course Integrated Instruction

Librarians work with instructors to improve students' information fluency by providing in-class instruction on how best to find, appraise and apply information for patient care. Sessions are tailored to the specific needs of the students and instructor in order to support assignments and optimize library research skills in support of evidence-based practice. Contact your subject librarian to discuss your course needs.

Clinically Integrated Support and Instruction

Librarians can work with care providers at the bedside and in the clinic to increase the use of best evidence. This includes teaching at evidence-based morning reports, block education sessions, and journal clubs as well as attending patient rounds to provide evidence and instruction at the point of need. Contact your subject librarian to discuss your course needs.

Consultations with Subject Librarians

Each AHC school and college has a subject librarian who is available to work with instructors to support teaching needs. Contact your subject librarian to discuss ways we can support your course, set up a consultation through our online form, or contact the reference desk at 612-626-3260 or by email:

Literature Searches

Do you need the best information to answer a difficult patient care question? Are you working on a paper or presentation? Our librarians are able to help you track down the best literature in the least time. Contact your subject librarian or complete the online form to get started.

EBP Subject Guide

The evidence-based practice subject guide provides selected resources, websites, journals, and articles related to evidence-based practice.

EBP Self-Paced Tutorial

The interprofessional Evidence-based Practice Tutorial covers the foundational aspects of evidence-based practice. The advanced tutorial is a more comprehensive, in-depth lesson on evidence-based practice, and contains case descriptions for dentistry, nursing, medicine, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, public health, and veterinary medicine.

Systematic Review Service

Through our Systematic Review Service, librarians at the Bio-Medical Library provide expert knowledge of search strategies and databases to support and guide investigators in conducting comprehensive literature searches for systematic reviews.

Empowering Evidence Workshop

The annual Empowering Evidence Workshop is an opportunity for University-affiliated clinical instructors to come together with their peers, hone their evidence based practice skills, and learn how to better teach the discipline of evidence-based practice to their students.
