Are you an undergrad working on a research paper, a grad student in need of a few more primary resources, or a History Day student looking for a fun topic to work on? The Wangensteen Historical Library is here to help!

The resources in the library have supported very diverse research projects for students working on everything from studio art to history to drama. Library staff are happy to work with you in finding resources and narrowing your research focus.

The Wangensteen Historical Library’s collection can be searced using MNCAT, our online catalog.

If you would like a one-on-one reference consultation, please call 612-626-6881 or email wanghist@umn.edu to set up an appointment.

Reference consults usually take 30-60 minutes. Coming prepared with any preliminary information about your topic will help us narrow our discussion to your research subject, geographical specifics, and years of focus.

Review our Plan Your Visit page to review the Researcher Policies. Keep in mind that this collection is non-circulating and all research with the materials must take place in the library’s reading room.
