The Wangensteen Historical Library holds over 80,000 rare books that date from the 15th century to around 1930, medical journals up to 1930, broadsides, pamphlets, as well as other historical materials. The collection is comprehensive and focuses on many areas of health care, jurisprudence, public health, and natural history.
The strengths of the collection are many, including surgery, obstetrics, pharmacy, gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, tuberculosis, smallpox vaccination, anatomy, mycology, entomology, ornithology, botany, and alchemy.
