Inquiring Minds: Student Scholarship at the Wangensteen Historical Library
About the exhibit
Exhibit dates: January 26, 2022 - March 7, 2022
This two-part exhibit explores how students use Wangensteen materials in coursework both as individuals and as part of class assignments. One side displays creations from Bill Moran’s GDES 4131 History of Graphic Design course, in which students selected one item from the Wangensteen to research, and then wrote and designed a period appropriate promotional flyer (a prospectus) to entice potential readers. The other half of the exhibit, titled “A Woodcut Above the Rest: Image Reuse in Early Modern Herbals,” started as an individual student’s term project in a class hosted by the Newberry Library’s Center for Renaissance Studies. The original StoryMap exhibit can be viewed at z.umn.edu/HerbalWoodcuts.
